Although cardio has major benefits for our bodies, we always find a reason or two to skip the running part of our workout routine. For one, it requires space. If you don't have a great place to run, you then may have an expensive treadmill investment which, unfortunately, not everyone can afford.

However, a cardio workout is more than just running; it could consist of a variety of exercises which focuses on increasing your heart rate. Therefore, any form of exercise -- from walking to dancing -- could be cardio exercise.

To help you find an alternative cardio route besides running, we created a list of our top 5 indoor cardio workouts for you!

Jumping Jacks

Let’s go back to the basics. Although simple and easy, this workout is arguably one of the most effective cardio exercises there is. All you’ll need is a good pair of shoes and a space big enough for you to jump. Give yourself 3 sets of 25 to 50 jumping jacks a day and you’re good to go!

Jump Rope

It’s a good idea to buy a punching bag, boxing gloves, a medicine ball, and a jump rope. These four items combined enable you to run through boxing sequences, cardio sequences, and strength training sequences to put together a full home workout.
